UGLE opens upscale gift shop

The last time I was in London a few years ago I visited the gift shop in Freemasons Hall while taking a tour of the Masonic museum and the beautiful building on Great Queens Street.  Needless to say I was like a kid in a candy store.  The shop was well stocked with books, regalia and many gifts any Mason would love.  I bought what I could afford and what I thought I could carry back across the pond with me.

Several British Newspapers including The Times  and The Guardian published reports on Wednesday, December 2nd that the United Grand Lodge of England have opened up a new and rather improved gift shop at their hall  in Covent Garden.

According to reports the Grand Lodge enlisted the help of Lumsden, an interior design firm which helped with the shops at the British museum and The National Theatre to help convert a former drawing room into an upscale shop for purchasing Masonic related merchandise including regalia, grooming products, clothing, gifts and souvenirs and more.

According to the UGLE website: “Dr David Staples, chief executive of UGLE, said: “I am delighted to launch this project, which we planned with so much attention and dedication during the lockdown. When Freemasons’ Hall opens once again this week, visitors will be able to enjoy an eye-catching shop, with a wide product range for all ages.

A new, more comprehensive website will be launched in March, 2021 to allow for online ordering.
