The Power of Positive Freemasonry

My latest piece The Power of Positive Freemasonry has been posted on the Midnight Freemasons website.

I struggle with positivity.  It is something that doesn’t come easily to me.  Most of my entire life I was surrounded by negativity and over the years that negativity developed into sarcasm and to a certain degree anger.  I have realized over the last few years I have come to the realization that the environment you live in and the people in your life you associate with, over time will help lead you to the path of positivity.

As I work on positivity in my life I realized how much negativity surrounds our gentle craft.  From older members exclaiming “Masonry is dying!” and younger members walking away from the Fraternity in disgust because Masonry isn’t what they were lead to believe it was.  With all this negativity its no wonder why we have a problem!

Fortis piece I decided to use the book The Power of Positive Thinking: 10 Traits for Maximum Results by New York Freemason Dr. Norman Vincent Peale.  This book has helped millions over the years on a quest to be a better person so my thought was maybe its teachings could help Freemasons make their outlook on the Fraternity more positive and therefore on a solid footing.

If you take one thing from this point is: Don’t quit.  Each member of the Craft we lose because they are disgusted or fed up is one less voice, vote or set of hands we have to help effect the change we are all searching for.  If you have already walled away I hope you will consider coming back and helping us effect change.
