Several years ago the “Not just a man, a Mason” campaign took the Masonic world by storm as a fresh and innovative way for Masonic lodges and Grand Lodges to gain the attention of non-Masons and peek their interests in our Fraternity.
The campaign, originally conceived and funded by The Scottish Rite Northern Masonic Jurisdiction has been a series of website graphics, social media graphics, and videos showing young men enjoying the benefits of Fraternal friendships and inviting them to learn more about becoming a Mason. The campaign has been so successful it has been translated into other languages for use by non-English speaking Grand Lodges. But now the campaign has been kicked up a notch. This last week at the annual Conference of Grand Masters a new website was introduced using the “Not just a man, a Mason” campaign.
The website Beafreemason.org explains to non-Masons the process of joining a lodge and about the degree work (You can Breathe easy, the site doesn’t provide spoilers or the secrets) and about other Masonic organizations such as the Shriners, The York Rite, and the Scottish Rite. After reading the information on the site If the man is interested in becoming a Mason it provides contact information for a local jurisdiction within North America.
The site which is funded in a joint effort by The Scottish Rite Northern Masonic Jurisdiction, Scottish Rite Southern Jurisdiction, and Shriners International will be a great tool for you o use in addition to your elevator speech when someone asks you “What is a Mason?”
