Grand Master of Masons in New Jersey Dieter B. Hees laid the cornerstone for the Coast Guard Enlisted Memorial in Cape May on April 7th. according to a story published The Ca[e May County Herald
The first part of this two part ceremony was held at the Coast Guard Training Center where the memorial when completed will contain over 1500 enlisted personnel who have given their lives in the line of duty to the Coast Guard since 1915.
The second section of the ceremony took place at Cape Island Lodge No. 30, where a traditional cornerstone ceremony were performed by Grand Master Hees and Grand Lodge of New Jersey members Roger Quintana, . Greg Scott, and Robert Monacelli. with the traditional elements of corn, wine and oik.
Once the cornerstone was tested and trued a wreath was laid while a military musician played taps and Civil War reenactors fired two cannons in honor of all branches of the military.
Also on hand was fellow Midnight Freemasons to present the Grand Master a charcoal drawing of the memorial and Masonic symbols.
