East West Shrine Bowl cancelled

The Covid-19 virus has caused another Masonic related event to be cancelled.  In an email to the membership on October 27th Imperial Potentate James R. “Jim” Smith announced due to complications of social distancing and logistics the 2021 East West Shrine Bowl has been cancelled.

In the Email Imperial Sir Smith states:

“This decision was extremely difficult to make. After consulting with our key partner – the NFL – along with countless leaders within the intercollegiate athletics community and the professional and college scouting community, we came to the conclusion that the risks were too great for the upcoming game. Once the NFL cancelled the Pro Bowl earlier this month, it became even more clear that we would need to take a one-year pause.”

The game, annual event since 1925 was scheduled to be played January 23, 2021, at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida. One bit of ilver lining for the players who were eligible to play in the 2021 game will be receive formal invitations to participate the 2022 game.
